Haakon Gets a Virus

A lot has happened since our last post in the family. It all started with me going to Minot and getting 2 that's right count them 2 great nights of sleep, I should have known that it would come back to haunt me. Of course the days while I was gone when I called back home I was filled in on the sleepless nights going on. When I finally rolled home on Thurs. the next thing I knew the wife was out the door and I was left sitting on Solveig's bed trying to ready her a book with my left hand and holding a screaming baby on my right. We managed to make it all work and everyone went down for the night.

Friday I was starting to get ready for my prairie rose biking race that I was in charge of on Sunday and had to go back to Valley City to spray paint the course. The plan was to roll out early morning so I could get back early, well day care called at about 9:30 and the queen of biting was at her max of 3 for the day and had to come home (did I mention she maxed out early afternoon on Thurs) so now things aren't going as planned. When she goes down for her nap I get moving and when I'm leaving Chas says that Haakon isn't doing so well, so his temp was up and he wasn't eating and she is going to take him to the clinic to get checked out. On my way home about 3:30 I get the call that Haakon was told to go directly to the hospital. I got to the hospital about 15 min after the family arrived. We got really lucky as my cousin who just happens to be our pediatrician is working at the hospital that day. They immediately give the man a spinal tap and start pumping antibiotics into him, did I mention the IV in the hand.

We make it through the nite and get good news that all the tests were negative for bacteria so it is looking like a virus. Grandpa and Grandma rolled down mid morning Sat. to watch Solveig. Well in the mean time Chas comes down with a painful kidney infection in which she really can't move but manages to drive herself to the clinic and make it back w/ a pizza 4 hours later after just about passing out in the elevator. Sunday I had to go to Valley City for my bike race which was an easy decision but Haakon was discharged early by our favorite pediatrician who made a special trip up to make sure he was ok.

Check out our website for a few hospital pictures of the little man in his h-bed. He has a check up tomorrow to see how he is doing, he still isn't 100% but he is improving.

Workouts have been pretty non existent except for one great day running stairs in Minot last week.
